Common Questions About Web Design & Animation

Quick answers to help you get started with your learning journey

Do I need programming experience to learn web design?

Not necessarily. While understanding HTML and CSS helps, many modern design tools let you create beautiful websites without writing code. That said, learning the basics of how code works makes you a better designer — you’ll understand what’s possible and what isn’t.

What’s the difference between animation and micro-interactions?

Animation is broader — it covers any moving elements on screen. Micro-interactions are small, purposeful animations that respond to user actions. A button changing color when you hover over it is a micro-interaction. A 3-second loading animation is animation. They’re related but serve different purposes.

How long does it take to become proficient at web design?

That depends on your starting point and how much you practice. You can learn the basics in 4-6 weeks. But becoming truly proficient — where you’re creating original work and solving design problems confidently — usually takes 3-6 months of consistent practice. Most people see meaningful progress within the first month.

Are these courses recognized by employers?

SkillsFuture programs are government-recognized in Singapore and demonstrate real competency to employers. That said, what matters most is your portfolio — the actual work you create. These courses help you build strong foundational skills and a portfolio worth showing.
